Abstract: Forests are the source of livelihood to forest dwellers and people who are living in and around the foot hills of a forest. A unique climate and geographical conditions were intended to cause a rich floral diversity in the forests of Chitradurga district, Karnataka. This also has direct impact on the life style of surrounding people. During the study of flowering plant species occurrence a total of 366 plants were recorded and photographed. Listed species were also studied with reference to the medicinal role in Indian system of medicine.
