Integrating Medicinal Plants into Zero Budget Natural Farming
Author(s): Prakash Koirala
Abstract: Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) offers a chemical-free, low-input paradigm that emphasizes soil biology, crop diversity, and farmer self-reliance. Integrating medicinal plants into ZBNF enhances farm biodiversity, provides alternative income streams, improves soil fertility, and meets growing domestic and global demand for herbal products. This paper critically examines agronomic, ecological, and economic implications of integrating medicinal plants into ZBNF, supported by authentic data from Indian agricultural programs and global herbal market trends. It presents a literature review, hypotheses, comparative tables, and a roadmap for sustainable adoption.
